Oklahoma Academic Standard 1. The student will analyze and summarize the impact of the major patterns of political, economic, and cultural change over time to 1450 CE and their long-term influences.

Objective 1.4 Evaluate the economic, political, and cultural impact of interregional trade networks.
In a Nutshell
As civilizations expanded, the desire for more and better goods also increased. Students should understand that the desire to improve human's standard of living and the accumulation of wealth motivated interregional and global trade. Trade, in turn, facilitated interaction between cultures leading to cultural diffusion, incidents of conflict, and efforts of cooperation, becoming an engine for the interchange of economic and political ideas.
