Oklahoma Academic Standard: The student will analyze the traits of good citizens.
Objective 1.5 Define the concept of civic virtue and responsibilities of the citizen at the local, state, and tribal levels, including respect for diversity.
In a Nutshell
The purpose and foundation of every social studies grade and course is the development of future citizens. Students in third grade should understand the concept of civic virtue as a responsibility one has to community, state, nation, and in many cases, tribe. Civic mindedness also includes an understanding of the importance of the cultural, religious, social, economic, and political diversity to the strength of our communities.
