In a Nutshell
An important concept and skill of historical understanding relies upon the ability to consider and weigh differing views or perspectives toward the same event. Students can begin to explore why points of view matter through the identification of different opinions and an explanation that the expression and acceptance of opposing opinions is important to democratic principles of equality and mutual respect.
